SEASONAL MESSAGES

Usually at this time of year there is a plethora of Christmas and New Year messages. They come from politicians and royals, from big business and private citizens. They appear on television and radio, on social media and in the press. They generally carry a uniform theme; an expression of goodwill and fellowship and reflections of the year just ending and looking forwards to the one ahead. But 2020 has left us speechless. What can we possibly say about such a frightful year that has not already been stated.  Some notables are virtually speechless...

...while others sound as though they are exacting some awful revenge for reasons unknown.

Responses from the public seem to vary, from quiet acquiescence...

...to more lively responses...
Others simply bemoan the lack of money for a good meal...
...and contact from nearest and dearest.

THE ABSENCE OF

LEADERSHIP

The leaders of the world's most influential countries have failed the planet and its inhabitants miserably. By squabbling, grandstanding and bullying, they have shown themselves to be inept and culpable. Instead of working together to minimise the impact of the coronavirus, they have acted as a global culture dish for its growth and virulence.
As one young lady so succinctly and spiritedly put it...
...and as we know, there's only one place where assholes belong...
Meanwhile, he that would be
King, inscrutably surveys his handiwork.
Keep safe and well, have the best Christmas you can and look forward to a better year ahead. As one British PM famously said, "There's always someone worse of than yourself!"
